Bar & Restaurant, 2022
The commercial building that was a three-storey bank is changed into a restaurant, café and bar on each floor. After demolishing the previously existing parts, there are only the building’s foundations such as concrete, beams and steels. However, these parts are interesting and used as the main materials and inspiration of designs.
Than/Lab the project “ฐานลับ”
The 1st floor, there is the battlefield or restaurant. After removing the original parts; the rough floor, walls and ceiling are visible and similar to the remnants of battles. Only necessary decorations are selected. For example, the mirrors can add new dimensions to the interior. The natural light shining from the back of the building is also used in order to protect the secrets and attractiveness of the building by having the gate.
The 2nd floor, there is the wall room. It looks mysterious and dark, but it is modernized with the lighting contrast to the mirrors. The bar at the center of the floor is similar to a base. There are also the balcony in front of the building in order to provide various areas.
The 3rd floor, reaching this floor is similar to coming from the underground. We can see the ruins from destroying the old walls and using some parts to create the story at the room’s corner. After opening the door and going to the bar, the highlight is the sunroof bring light into the area. It is similar to a semi-outdoor bar. The area is divided into rooms for friends. The identities of the rooms are inspired by wild animal’s habitats.
